Im looking to buy a Black Macbook on eBay that already has Adobe CS4. I found an older one with Adobe CS4 Master Collection Pre-Installed. I am planning on going back to school for graphic design and wasnt sure if this laptop has enough power to handle these graphic intensive programs in CS4.
Here are the specs of the MacBook:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHZ (new logic board)
2 GB DDR2 (Im going to upgrade to 4gb)
200 GB 5400 RPM HDD
Intel GMA 950 64MB
Superdrive
CS4 Master Collection
10.5 Leopard
iWork '09
iLife '09
MS Office 2008

Is this macbook suitable for my needs and will it run everything well?
(I was looking at a new 24" iMac but this will save me TONS of money if it will work right)
thanks

Hi there.
Im worried about that GMA 950. I think it has more than 64MB…but anyway
I think it will work….if the graphics you do are simple then OK…but if you do pretty advanced effects and intensive work I think that the graphics card is going to give you some trouble.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with CS3 and that has the GMA X3100 and seems to run fine, but the GMA 950 is quite far back compared to the X3100. I can assure you it wont run any modern games…especially as even the X3100 cant handle high end games.
Wikipedia says this ‘The GMA 950 shares the same architectural weakness as the GMA 900: no hardware geometry processing. Neither basic (DX7) hardware transform and lighting,[2] nor more advanced vertex shaders (DX8 and later) are handled in the GMA hardware’
$550 sounds like a bargain though. If you buy it and it isnt powerful enough for you im sure you could resell it and get the money back…it just depends on if your going to really push the graphics or not. The CPU seems fine, and 4gb of ram would be good….so yeah just worried about the graphics….
