How do I change my Macbook’s name?

On my Macbook it says "Rebecca's Macbook" even when I use the email now it signs the end of the emails "Rebecca". I've changed the admin name to my name but on other parts of the computer it keeps saying "Rebecca". Please help me :(

  1. As far as I can tell, the main place to change the system name is in the Sharing section of System Preferences. You can get to "System Preferences" off the Apple menu.

there's a second area, however, that you may need to address, and that's the name of the default logged in user: So go back into "System Preferences" and choose "Accounts". You'll want to set yourself up as an admin account if you haven't already done so. And click on "Login Options" and change it so that it's your account that's the default login account when you start up the computer.

If you just have a regular user account, I would suggest you set up a second account that's an admin account.

    hope this helps.

  2. hey I have a similar problem, just take it to the apple store and they will fix it for you. Hope that helps!

  3. You first would have to enable the right click by going to system preferences > Trackpad. Put a check in the box that says "secondary click" and set it to "Bottom Right Corner". Then press Show All, and go to Accounts. Set the admin user name to your name, and right click on your on the left side of the accounts display, under "My Account", and press "Advanced Options". Change the short name and the home directory to your name. I believe your name should be the computer name after that.

PS: In order to change any account settings, you must have the lock at the bottom unlocked.
