OK to blow compressed air in MacBook vents?

I heard that shooting compressed air can cause the fans to spin faster than they're supposed to and damage them. The vent underneath the "MacBook" logo looks a little dusty. BTW, my black macbook is 1 year old.

...how it works and
It’s fine to spray a little, or better yet, put the brush extension on a vacuum and vacuum it out.
If you use the canned air, just be sure to hold the can straight up and down so it sprays out only clear air.
Whoa, do it with the computer off.
I use compressed air from gas stations to drive out dust sucked into the vents. Just don’t spray too closely like less than a foot and you’ll be okay..
Using a vacuum cleaner will not do much because it won’t reach the inside of your macbook. There’s nothing wrong with holding canned air whether upright or sideways because in only contains pressurized air unless there’s liquid in it.
I do it on my laptop and desktop every 6 months. I also used to have a fan on my graphics card that doesn’t spin well anymore due to accumulated dust. I took the card out and blew air onto it. Now it’s okay again.
i cant assure you that it would be safe, but you -could- open it up if you want to be on the safe side? Sorry if this isnt a descriptive answer, also, if you can hold the fans down with anything it would be safe to do. =P Goodluck!
