Four bad answers in a row! This starting to become quite common.

It is perfectly safe to keep the MacBook plugged in. In fact, Apple goes to far as to recommend running it once a month unplugged to completely drain the battery. The obviously means that Apple is fine with your running it the other 353 days a year plugged in.

It's possible, when charging something the battery fluid inside of it can boil, and when that happens it will hold less of a charge. So it's quite possible, so be careful with that, only charge it when the batter is practically empty.

It will definitely shorten the life of your battery. Only keep it plugged while it's charging. Once it's charged, unplug it and let the battery drain until it's near dying, then plug it back in. If it's just easier to keep it plugged in, take your battery out so it won't get ruined. The only bad part about doing that though, is if there were to be a black-out. Then you'd lose all your power and the computer would shut-off totally right away.

Well, I've heard that from multiple people.
I disagree with them, though.
It's normal for a battery to detereorate.
It'll do it regardless of how often you charge it.
Also, if it wasn't meant to be usaed while chrged, wouldn't you think that Apple would put some kind of warning on it?
They would be required to, by law.

Lets put it this way. Heat is a major factor that degrades the battery's life.

You can keep the battery attached to the laptop if there is no excessive heat.

The laptop will produce more heat when using heavy applications (like encoding a video, playing heavy games, etc). If this is the case, I suggest taking the battery off.

I agree with "Battery normally degrades its life through time". Plugging the laptop into an outlet all the time does not ruin your battery. Most modern batteries nowadays are made with Lithium-ion which automatically stops the charging process when the battery is full.
