Can I use a mini DVI-to-VGA adapter to connect damaged MacBook to a PC?

I don't know if I can just plug a mini dvi to vga adapter in to my computers and connect my macbook to my pc monitor and assume the macbook screen will just show up on the pc monitor. I really need to get some files off my mac!!!

  1. You’re not attaching the macbook to the PC, you’re attaching it to a monitor, so essentially yes it will work if you use the mini dvi to vga, just use what connection you have and it will work. My brother has a laptop and connects to his 21" all the time
