Can I put old MacBook hard drive into new MacBook Pro?

I had a regular white macbook, and the screen got broken. I wish to get a new macbook pro, and please do not ask me why i don't get the screen on the old comptuer fixed, because its a very long and complicated story.
What i need to know is this:
Can the hard drive from the slightly older macbook be transferred into the new macbook pro? Please answer.

Recent MacBook spare part searches: can i put a A1278 hard drive into a a1181, can I take older mac drive and put into new macbook, can you take logic from old hard drive and put it on new hard drive, put old hard drive in new macbook, put old mac HD into macbook pro

  1. Yes, but you don’t really need to. You can use Migration Assistant to transfer all your files and apps over to the new MacBook Pro without swapping HDDs. If only the screen on the older MacBook is shot, you can always get a cheep external monitor and use that instead. Or you could take out the old HDD and slap it into a external HDD case to use as a second drive for the MBP.

Isn’t your early-2008 MB covered by the warranty? Can’t you just have Apple fix it for free?

Personally, I’d get an external monitor and an aluminum keyboard/mighty mouse combo and use the MB as a psudo-desktop. But that’s just me :)
