My 13" Macbook (2007 series) has seriously warped - I took me three days to remove a DVD that was stuck inside - and I don't have applecare. How much are Apple gonna charge me for the privilege of repairing it?

It depends where you bring it and what their rates are. Go to your local Apple authorized repair centre and ask them for an estimate. Usually, there is a fee for the estimate that will be waved if you decide to do the work.
