Repair your MacBook with the right tools. It's all to easy to strip screw heads or damage the casing. Fortunately, most MacBook repairs can be carried out with a minimum of tools:
- #00 Phillips Screwdriver
- T8 Torx Screwdriver
- Spudger
The hardest part can be opening the case to access the interior. This is where the spudger is useful - it's a plastic lever that won't mark the case. In a pinch, a credit card will serve the same purpose. Torx screwdrivers used to be hard to come by but are available now in most hardware stores.
Use an ice-cube tray as temporary storage for your screws and keep track of all the parts as you take the MacBook apart so you can rebuild it without dramas.
