Why does my MacBook screen keep going dark?

Hi, my new two weeks old... its the new silver 13 inch Macbook's screen keeps dimming slightly. I'm charging it, I'm using it, it's not like it's going into sleep mode. I don't understand why this is happening.

And I'm having problems with the mouse. Sometime it won't register that I've clicked. Or it won't move the curser even though I'm pressing the mouse.

Any suggestions or should I take it back to the store?

  1. the screen dims to adjust to the room light, the track pad is HEAT sensitive!!!

    you need to click with your fingers, not with something over them!!!

    you need to get used to it!

  2. well my mac laptop use to also dim to but after a awhile it just stopped mabe you should call the store u got it from bc its still under warranty!

  3. It is probably set to auto-dim. You can turn it off.

  4. it may be that you are in a dimmed room becuase if you notice if you put your hand over the iSight camera it dims if it already is not. the new MacBooks have built in light sensor so it doesnt hurt your eyes in the dark
