Can a MacBook take extra RAM?

Hi,

On the iBook G4 someone had 1.5Gb RAM. This is because they had 512Mb on Logic Board and 1Gb Under Battery.
Can this be done on a MacBook as the 2006 models can only contain 2Gb RAM. Just 3Gb would be enough or maybe 2.5Gb but 4Gb is the ideal. Can you put extra RAM under a MacBooks battery?
Thanks
Harry

  1. You can add more than 2GB, but the Intel chipset used on those computers won’t recognize anything more than the first 2.
