My Macbook got wet. How do I get it repaired?

I spilled liquid (soda) accidentally into my Macbook and it shorted the Logic board. Apple is quoting me a big price to fix it, but since I only paid $900 for it (s/h, Mac 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo) it seems silly not to just get a new one. Is there a way I can get it fixed for cheaper?
