The Macbook Pro ‘whine’- what does it sound like?

I recently got a refurbished Macbook Pro from Apple. I'm wondering if it's got the famed "cpu whine" that others have complained about. It makes a very high-pitched buzzing sound when the battery is fully charged and the AC cord is plugged in. The buzz goes away immediately when I pull the cord out, and comes back as soon as I put it back in. It's fairly subtle, but it is distracting and gives me a bit of a headache. Is this the same as the "whine" or is it normal for all Macbook Pros? If this is the whine, how difficult is it to get Apple to fix it? Thanks!

  1. Hi there…the high pitch whine occurs when either the AC is removed and is operating on the battery or vice versa. Unforunately, at this time Apple hasn’t found any solutions to resolve the whining problem. Here’s the search within Apple’s Discussion Forum with other users who are experiencing this same problem–myself included.

  2. No solution yet
