I recently bought a 15inch MacBook off a college friend and it's broken, it doesn't power on without the charger and it does not hold a charge when plugged along with another operating issue. I bought it for dirt cheap, how and where can I repair it? Would apple repair it even though I'm not the original owner? It doesnt have a service plan. Thanks
The battery is an issue but it has operation issues I'm not familar with macs. Should I go to the apple store?
...how it works and
It’s not broken, it sounds like the battery is dead. If you buy a new battery ($50 – $200) then you should be good to go. Take it to an Apple store if there is one close by and they will make suggestions for free, labor will cost you.
Most likely your battery is shot, a new one will run you about $129 from Apple. Skip any from eBay, 70% have been shown to be frauds or knockoffs. As to operating problems, by a copy of Snow Leopard and install it. The utility program that runs with it, should fix any software problems.
