How to remove disk from a MacBook with a broken hard disk?



My macbook's hard drive broke and there's a disk that's still stuck inside of the macbook. How do I get it out without having to go to the apple store?

  1. Even though the hard drive is broken, this will work. Turn on the laptop, and right when it’s turned on, (it should be at a light grey screen) hold down the touchpad until the disk comes out. Hold it down until the disk comes out, and then turn off your computer.

  2. Do you mean a CD/DVD? Or the disk of the hard drive?
    You can’t take out the latter one.

    I believe you just have to turn your laptop on (it should turn on, it doesn’t matter if the hdd is broken) and click the eject button. That’s how I do on mine. Not sure about the MacBook.

  3. To fix your hard drive problem you will need a new hard drive, which can be installed for you at your Apple Store. If the disk is STILL stuck after you try that you can try (I don’t know if this will work with a broken hard drive) this:

    When it boots hold COMMAND (Apple)+OPTION+O+F. When you get a prompt type eject cd and hit enter. You can then turn it off.
