Should I replace my MacBook logic board or buy a new one?

The logic board to my white macbook of 2 years is damaged ( probably because I dropped it twice on the cement freshman year). It has microsoft office (which I need for school) and it's been upgraded to 4 GB of RAM. My college computer services will replace the logic board for 0 (includes price of the logic board and labor). Should I just repair my Macbook or buy a new computer. The thing is if I buy a new computer, I would probably buy a dell or HP that is around 0-650 without tax. I know these computers are less durable than a Mac. On top of that I'd be getting the minimum accessories on my computer. I also would have to invest in buying virus software and buy Microsoft Office. I think it's better to just repair my Macbook. At least I know it's a durable computer and has everything I need on it already. However, my cousin who works at best buy says it's not worth it and just to buy a new computer. What should I do?

It’s unlikely you can replace that motherboard for less than the computer is worth. It’s very likely you’ll spend $400 trying, just to find out there’s other damage.
Macs aren’t that durable. I take care of them for a company and they rarely last as long as the Dells.
You can get the regular Macbook in the aluminum case now if you buy the new one. It’s a lot tougher than the plastic ones.
I’m pretty sure Apple will swap out the logic board for $300.00. Check with them first.
As far as longevity, you are better off repairing the MacBook. Macs generally have twice the useful lifespan of PCs (which are generally outdated after 3 years; the DoD has a mandatory 3-year upgrade rule).
Your cousin at Best Buy likely has this 3-year PC "rule" in mind – which, of course, does not apply to Macs.
My Mom still gets by with her 1999 iMac.
