How to fix this non-booting MacBook?

So i went away for the weekend and when i returned my computer wouldn't turn on. I plugged it in thinking the battery is dead and it was. I charge the battery up fully and went to turn it on and there when i do a blue screen come up with the little "loading" wheel and then it goes to a gray screen and it won't do anything else. Can someone give me an idea of what is wrong. I can't afford to send it in.

  1. Do you have the Mac OS install disk? If so, insert that while you restart and boot from it (you may need to hold down the C key to force it to boot from the disk)

You can run disk utility from that if it boots. See if that helps. If you can’t you might want to reinstall OSX. Choose "archive and install" so you don’t loose data. Hopefully the logic board or other hardware is not harmed. Maybe even a different battery would help.
