Has water damaged my MacBook?

I spilled some water on my macbook. it dried out and i can turn it on but it acts weirdly now. when i turn it on it falls asleep immediately? i just can see that its on because the white light is on and when i press the space button it wakes up and the screen is also ok but it falls asleep in 3 seconds. could this defect be due to the spilled water?

  1. Since there is no warranty, you have to replace the logic board. The logic board is probably fried due to the water. Apple will charge probably over $1000 for the repair. Lying to apple won’t get you anywhere since they know how to detect water damage

  2. Yes. If it’s still under warranty, take it to the Apple Store but don’t mention the water. Just say you started it up, and it started acting weird. You may be able to get it covered, but cross your fingers they don’t find corrosion or moisture inside. Otherwise you’re screwed (typically about $900 repair if they do).
