Which replacement logic board for my Macbook Pro?

I have a macbook pro 15" with an apparent need for a logic board. it wont start up and i have been told the logic board needs replacing.
The question is which logic board?
its a core duo 2.0 128MB VRAM.
I have been told by applepalace.com that based on my serial number i need part number 661-4046, question(s) are;
can i use 661-4045 which is the 2.16ghz model, these "seem" interchangeable.
secondly, is there a way to actually confirm its the board and not something else?

Thanks
todd

  1. Phone apple customer support they’ll help you.

  2. That all depends on who told you the logic board was bad.

    If you trust that person knows what they are doing, and is probably not full of bull dookie, then go ahead and order the replacement.

    Usually, the motherboards of the same series are interchangeable. But to be honest, I am not 100% certain that Apple has not made a design change between the two models to be sure someone doesn’t do what you are talking about.

    I doubt it, but Apple has been known to do some silly things.

    To be safe, I would stick to the same model number.

    Besides, the difference between a 2.0ghz and a 2.16ghz would be negligible.
